This back porch was always an eyesore and ironically even though it's the "back" porch it's actually the main entrance we use and the first thing guests see...yikes! When we first moved in it was covered in cobwebs and dirt, honestly it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in centuries. So the first thing I did was get my pressure washer and sprayed the whole thing down. Unfortunately it died halfway thru so good ol' elbow grease would have to do. I used painter's drop cloths for curtains, they're the perfect neutral color and only $9 per panel. They add the perfect amount of privacy and cozy touch to the space without spending a ton of money on real outdoor curtains.
I had this lovely bench custom made locally, I will post the information of the guy who made it for me below- he did a wonderful job! I plan to add full size cushions to the bench however that will have to wait until cushions go on sale for the year OR I might just make my own. It's not 100% finished but for now it's serving us quite well and I'm enjoying spending time out on the porch sipping lemonade and watching the kids play outside! Ahhh Summer!

Meet Oreo and Honeybun our baby boy kittens who will soon be outdoor cats.
So we currently have one feral stray barn cat who the kids lovingly named Sunshine, then Sunny, then Ginger. For several months she was too scared to come around people but one day I noticed that she was walking extra slow and waddling a bit...she's very very pregnant! This was super exciting because I thought it would be great to have some kitties! But Ginger the barn cat is extra shy and must have hid her babies from us or heaven forbid something happened to them. We still don't know. But alas, I came across these adorable 7 and 8 week old kitties that needed a home and ofcourse they fit right in with the rest of our crazy brood. So naturally, this weekend we took some photos in our backyard right before sunset. I think it's safe to say the kids are in love. I mean is there anything sweeter than baby kittens in bowties?! Enjoy :) |
